I remember the first time I received high quality supervision. I felt supported, safe, and able to ask those “silly” questions that I had been too afraid to ask. It felt like that mask I was wearing had suddenly dissolved and I could talk about the issues I really wanted to talk about. I also felt like the supervisor genuinely had an interest in my growth and development. I have gotten more out of this type of supervision than any other type.

I know that in our profession, we can often feel like we need to be completely professional all the time, or like we can’t let our guard down. However, real growth comes from authenticity and vulnerability. And this isn’t just anecdotal - the research backs up the idea that for growth to occur, the supervisee needs to feel safe in the relationship.

My supervisory style is warm, approachable, and authentic. My aim is to foster a sense of safety in the supervisory relationship, so that we can honestly discuss your practice. I also back this up with knowledge of a range of therapeutic modalities - I have advanced training in Schema & EMDR, as well as training in a number of other modalities (ACT, Narrative, CBT). I have 4+ years experience working with Aboriginal communities, including remote communities, and have also delivered culturally responsive group programs in these contexts.
